Yeti

Yeti was the kind of dog who always seemed to be “smiling,” but in a way that felt genuine and real—not like the carefree joy of a golden retriever, but more like a dog with depth and complexity. He had a very human-like quality when it came to emotions. He loved his family deeply and experienced a full range of feelings. He passed away about two years ago, and this is a tribute to him.

“I want him to be remembered as he was in the photograph I’ve submitted—happy, smiling, but with a soul clearly present in his eyes. Unlike many dogs who are simply blissfully happy, when you looked into his brown eyes, you could feel the emotions of a person. You knew exactly what he was thinking.”

What I loved most about drawing Yeti, the husky, was capturing the unique spirit that made him so special. His striking blue eyes, full of depth and emotion, were a challenge to recreate, but it was incredibly rewarding to bring them to life with careful shading and detail. I also enjoyed illustrating the texture of his thick, beautiful fur, using layers of color to reflect its softness and movement. Each stroke felt like a tribute to his personality—his calm demeanor and occasional playful spark. It was a true honor to immortalize him through art, creating a portrait that reflects the soul and warmth he carried.
