Meet Pearl
She is a princess and is a happy dog. She has many friends in the neighborhood, including a girl who was a baby when they met. Pearl is very sweet and kind and has raised 4 kittens. She’s very bonded to my husband and sleeps with him for part of the night.
Pearl’s portrait was so much fun to draw! I was worried in the beginning that the fur would not look as realistic as the picture because there was so much detail happening.
My method was to lay down the colors and draw in the same direction as the fur, I purposely did not focus on the stray hairs just yet. As I got a nice and smooth section done, I then went through with the slice tool I like using to etch in some of those stray hairs. That’s what did it! It worked out perfectly, in the end.
